Hound Puppies

Hound puppies were originally bred to hunt, so the Hound group of dog breeds will have either enhanced senses of eyesight or smell to follow a trail and catch prey. Hounds are a varied group of breeds, so when grown each particular breed varies a lot in size and exercise needs. Not all will want to go out for a run with you, while others will love it. Others like to run about independently. If you are set on getting a hound, make sure you find one right for your lifestyle.

Afghan Hound

The Afghan hound was originally a hunting dog in Afghanistan. They must be trained kindly and in a calm and firm manner. The Afghan has been described as "a king of dogs", because it is noble, majestic and elegant.


The Aidi is a Moroccan dog breed typically used to guard herds of sheep and goats. This dog is also known for its hunting skills and has good scenting ability.

Alpine Dachsbracke

The Alpine Dachsbracke is a small breed of dog of the scent hound type originaly from Austria. The Alpine Dachsbracke was bred to track wounded deer as well as boar, hare, and fox. It is highly capable of following a trail even after it has gone cold.

Basset Hound

The Basset Hound's almost permanent sad-like facial expression helps this dog get a lot of attention and sympathy.

Often referred to as a sausage dog the Dachshund is an amusing lively pet and will keep you entertained for hours.

The Galgo Español (Spanish Galgo) or Spanish greyhound is an ancient breed of dog, specifically a member of the sighthound family.
