Terriers are known for their distinctive facial appearance and wiry coat, and of course their often-fiery personality. Terriers were originally bred for jobs that involved killing, like hunting out vermin and foxes. Because of their breeding, you should expect a brave independent puppy with a strong personality. They are also very responsive and protective, but tend not to get along with other animals. Terriers are affectionate but lively puppies and dogs. Terriers will be good with children if they are properly trained. They are not generally recommended for first time dog owners.
