The vivacious Pomeranian is a popular family pet. The Pomeranian's affectionate nature make for an excellent companion. And with their diminutive size, exercise can be achieved around the home. With its superior intelligence and eagerness to learn, Poms are quite easy to train. This is also why they are well known for being a show dog. The Pomeranian is known to be a good watch dog because it is alert and observant. This breed also craves companionship and does not cope for long periods by itself.

Most Pomeranians love to be groomed and pampered, which is good because their owners spend a lot of time looking after their fluffy coat!
Pomeranians are spirited dogs with high intelligence.
You will find your Pom easy to train as this puppy breed is intelligent and very eager to learn.
Orange and red Pomeranians are the most popular colors, although all colors of this dog breed are available.
Pomeranians appear to have boundless energy, however are happy inside a home or a small yard.

The AKC prefers showdogs which weigh between 4 and 6 pounds.

Pomeranians are from, funnily enough, Pomerania! This place no longer exists, being where Germany and Poland now stand. The original Poms were much larger and weighed about 30 pounds. They were bred down after Queen Victoria fell in love with a Pomeranian in Florence and took it home to England in 1888.
