Forever cheerful and easy to train, you can expect your Standard Poodle to excel with firm and consistent training. Most owners find their Poodles eager to please. This is a dog breed that loves its family and hates being left out alone. Standard Poodles will enjoy the company of other pet, including dogs, and will integrate happily into family life. This includes life with children.

The Standard Poodle is the oldest of the three Poodle varieties: Standard, Miniature and Toy.
The American Kennel Club recognized Poodles in 1887.
A parti colored coat, like this one, is disqualified by the American Kennel Club. A parti-colored coat means the coat is not an even solid color at the skin but is of two or more colors.
A Poodle's curly, non-shedding coat requires regular grooming and clipping.
Poodles are very active dogs.

Standard Poodles must be over 15 inches at the highest point of the shoulders.

Germany. Although the Poodle is sometimes known as the French Poodle, this dog breed originated as a water retrieving dog in Germany.

Poodles are said to grow a hypoallergenic coat which may reduce allergic reactions, however there is no way to completely eliminate allergies towards dogs.

Ectropion, Glaucoma

Poodles may also suffer from progressive rod-cone degeneration, a canine eye disease that leads to blindness. Because of their size, Standard Poodles may also suffer from Bloat (GDV).
